Nowadays, most music composers tend to use computed techniques that reproduce notes from musical instruments (guitar, drum, etc.) or sounds from the nature (wind, ocean, animal noises, etc.).

A program that helps you extract or edit sections from an audio file is Transcribe!.
This application works similar to a scanned text recognizer (OCR) except it handles audio sounds and creates MIDI sequences from any played MP3 file.

I must say that Transcribe! made me a good impression due to its numerous configurations, unfortunately, the program seemed to be designed especially for professional users. A simpler interface would've helped an average user to discover its functionality, even if it's for a one-time use.
Also, when you finish editing the input audio file, you can export the result only with WAV (Windows) or AIFF (Apple); therefore, if you need the MP3 version of the song, you need to download or acquire an audio converter.

As I mentioned previously, the WOW factor of this application would definitely be its numerous audio configurations, from sounds effects and tuning tools to speed adjustment and loop feature (repeat certain section within an audio file). Transcribe! practically gives you all audio settings you need in order to improve the output quality of any audio file.

Although the price of this application might come as a bit high to one-time users, for professionals would be a small investment considering its efficiency and usefulness.
